MERCHANT SHIPPING (CERTIFICATES) ACT 1914 - LONG TITLE

An Act to amend the Law relating to Examinations for Certificates
of Competency.
[10th August 1914]

MERCHANT SHIPPING (CERTIFICATES) ACT 1914 - SECT 1
Examinations for certificates of competency as masters or mates.

1.(1) For the purpose of granting certificates of competency as
masters or mates to persons desirous of obtaining such certificates,
examinations shall be held at such places as the Board of Trade
direct.

(2) The Board of Trade may appoint times for the examinations, and
may appoint, remove, and reappoint examiners to conduct the
examinations, and determine the remuneration of those examiners, and
may regulate the conduct of the examinations and the qualification
of the applicants, and may do all such acts and things as they
think expedient for the purpose of the examinations.

Short title and construction.

2. This Act may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Certificates)
Act, 1914, and the provisions of this Act shall be construed as if
they were contained in Part II of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894;
and the Merchant Shipping Acts, 1894 to 1913, and this Act may be
cited together as the Merchant Shipping Acts, 1894 to 1914.
